Agile @ ableneo monthly update — September

Back to school, back to reading! Are you already following any of the blogs listed in our last digest (Agile @ ableneo monthly update — August)?

  1. Hiring Scrum Master — From time to time, you are asked to help choose your new colleague. Hopefully, you are not left to ask improvised questions but rather have a good process (meaning materials & decision-making) in place. Zuzka’s blog post is about what kind of person you might be looking at. Scrum Masters often (hopefully just partially or temporarily) step into different roles — are you looking for a certain combination? Or do you have skills and experience outside of typical roles? I would recommend taking a good look!
  2. Transforming Your Daily Scrum — Daily meetings occur ~10–15x more often than the rest of Scrum meetings. Naturally, this is where any syndromes of unhealthy practices will become visible first. This article helps you to check for dwindling value and offers ways to get you and your team back on track.
  3. Agile Framework Showdown: SCRUM vs. LeSS vs. SAFe — Scrum Masters are often asked to provide opinions about different agile (even non-agile) methodologies. The best option to form one is to try working under those frameworks/methodologies. The second best is reading many articles and opinions, discussing them, and comparing your notes with your peers. Sebastian Werner compares Scrum, LeSS, and SAFe in the blog post. Spoiler: in this order, he found them acceptable for small to very big companies. But why? that is the interesting part you should read for yourself.
